| I live in Searsmont with my husband of 25 years and two boys. We are a homeschooling, close-knit family. My friends say I’m just a very crafty person and I enjoy most forms of crafting. I started making dolls as a school sewing project with my kids when they were very young. In fact, my youngest who is 13 now, still has the one he made. The dolls I make now are based on the same pattern, but have evolved greatly over time. I have plumped up the body and made many of my own clothes patterns. They are based on a Waldorf style, and made with all natural wool and cotton materials.
I really enjoy watching their individual personalities develop over time as I make them. It generally takes 10-12 hours to complete a doll, as there is a lot of hand work in them. Although they look fancy, they are really made to be loved and cuddled by both young girls and boys. A doll is a wonderful tool to teach our children how to be nurturing. They are our future Moms and Dads. |
