| Nicki Okishoff of Waterville, Maine began creating stuffed wild critters about 28 years ago, when she made the first of her toys as gifts. What began as a hobby is now a booming business. She crafts all kinds of creatures, from moose and bears to tiny mice. She makes puppets that would make any child shout with excitement.
She creates her creatures in three stages. The material comes on big rolls that are about 60 inches wide. She spreads the fabric out on the floor, and then sits and cuts. She sews and then she stuffs. Nicki's items are sold in stores and at craft shows.
