"Downeast Decor" was originally painted in oils on an 8"x10" artist's mdf panel during the Rockland Maine's famous Lobster Festival. Many Maine islands and coastal areas happily use discarded buoys as a colorful decoration for their yards and homes. The juxtaposition of weatherbeaten wood shingles and brightly painted buoys was enough to make the artist slam on the brakes on her way to Boothbay Harbor and stop to take reference photos and sketches to complete this painting.
