Meet March Artist of the Month Susan Black

I started tole/decorative painting back in 1980 soon after my mothers death – to fill the void. I was fortunate to find a magnificent teacher, Marsha Weiser formerly of Bangor, who went on to become very well known in the painting world – writing numerous books and teaching thru out the US and Canada. Over the past 30 years (oh my how time flies) I have been an enthusiastic student with many many famous and much sort-after painting instructors from around the United States.

I produce and sell one-of-a-kind decorative hand paintings on glass, slate, tin, wood and other surfaces. All my items carry the “Maine Made” label. The Tole Booth features, among other subjects, lighthouses, birdhouses, garden flowers. Glassware, furniture, mailboxes, watering cans, welcoming slates and garden accessories are a few of the items available.
